What’s It Do?

Genie Backup Manager is a backup and data recovery for the entire computer system, offering a fast and easy recovery solution via an intuitive wizard-based interface. It provides full, incremental, and other backups and can be scheduled as desired, even postponed if the system is running on batteries. The program is aimed at novice computer users and is designed to make the backup and restore process as easy to understand and use as possible; yet, is powerful enough to support multiple systems and removable media devices as well.

Does it do what it promises?

Reviewer 1: Yes. Genie Backup Manager Pro 8.0 is a powerful backup tool which is highly customizable and user friendly. It performed well on my system over the course of many months.

Reviewer 2: Yes, it worked quite well in my trials.

Reviewer 3: Yes. It truly is a complete backup manager covering the backup of single files or folders to making a complete backup of the entire system.

Reviewer 4: All of us store a lot of information on our computers' hard disks and much of that information - from photos, to music, to addresses and phone numbers, to school projects, to research information, to artistic endeavours and the list goes on - is kept nowhere else. Physically, it is only electronic bits and bytes on little disks whirling at incredible speeds at high temperatures and vulnerable to all kinds of disaster. It cannot be emphasized enough that these will fail; the only question is not if, but when. Since so much of this work cannot be replaced, it is very important to find a way to keep copies of that data in another place, safely stored away on a different drive, on a CD or DVD, on another computer, or even somewhere on the Internet ("on-line"). But not only does it need to be "backed up;" it also needs to be easily retrievable. Genie Backup Manager is one of the best tools that I have seen that does exactly that.

Reviewer 5: Yes, and more. This is one of the few instances when a developer's web site not only refrains from exaggeration and hyperbole but, if anything, understates the quality and superiority of its product.

Was it easy to install?

Reviewer 1:
I did have a problem initially where the downloaded program was reported by the installer as corrupt; however, the error was caught and it was easily remedied by downloading the program again. Installation was straightforward. The license agreement was relatively simple, allowing one copy to be used by one user. The Web site FAQ further clarifies this by providing an exception to allow a user to install this program simultaneously on a desktop and a laptop computer. It was refreshing to see that they permit "a reasonable number of backup copies" to be made rather than the usual and unreasonable allowance of a single backup permitted in many End User License Agreements (EULA).

Reviewer 2:
Yes, it was a 141 Mb download that unpacked to a 188 Mb installed folder. It must be registered and activated with the provided key.

Reviewer 3:
Yes. The downloaded install file ran and installed the software with no problems encountered. As with all installations of any software, be sure to turn off the firewall and other security software just prior to installing the software.

Reviewer 4:
Yes. It is a standard Windows installation procedure. I was able to place the program and its icons where I wished. A program called GBM Agent will install itself into the startup procedure. I do think that any application that puts programs into one's startup procedure should inform of this during the installation, explain what the program is and why it is needed. If it is not really necessary for the operation of the program, it should provide a choice of including it or not. After installation, the computer must be rebooted (probably to allow the GBM Agent to start up). Registration is easily done, with a simple copy and paste of the registration code.

Reviewer 5:
Yes. While the 22.46MB (an additional 122MB for the disaster recovery feature) download may seem a bit large-especially the huge 175MB space required on one's hard drive, it is actually comparatively small for a program of such complexity and versatility. The program downloaded quickly and installed using a very easy-to-follow installation wizard. If downloading the free disaster recovery feature , a broadband connection is recommended.

Good Points?

Reviewer 1: Genie Backup Manager's interface is clear and understandable. The Wizard guides through the options needed to properly configure the backup job. Once the job is configured, it can be saved to easily use it again in the future. Backups are highly customizable and can include anything from individual files to the entire system. After the initial backup, there is an option to do incremental backups of just the files that have changed since the last backup. Then, select the files to include in the incremental backup by the date and time of the file rather than by the state of the archive bit. This avoids the errors of omission that can occur when a different program changes the archive bits. Backups can be encrypted if desired. They can also be made self-extracting to permit restoring them on systems where Genie Backup Manager is not installed. Backups can be saved to a wide variety of media: CD's, DVD's, tapes, internal and external drives, UBS drives, NAS drives, network locations, and encrypted offline storage. An interesting innovation is the ability to break up a backup job and span it over up to 10 drives. For backing up a specific type of data,, there are hundreds of plugins available, everything from specific game and program settings to e-mail or music files. Backup jobs can be scheduled to run automatically on a regular basis.

Reviewer 2: This program can backup just about any file. It will do selected files, whole directories or the entire drive (mirror). It does "full", "differential" or "incremental" backups. It saves the back up to a single file with a .gbp extension. It has the ability to open the backup file and restore selected files individually. Some programs create one big file and it's all or nothing when it comes to restoring. Genie Backup Manager Pro will help create "Disaster Recovery" discs and is compatible with Vista's disaster recovery system. Genie Backup Manager Pro can back up to almost any location or media such as local HDD, NAT, LAN, FTP and Genie's own Online Backup servers or another of one's own choosing. It can use most any optical media, floppies, tape or USB/flash drive. It supports Win2K & server, XP, 2003 server, Vista and 2008 server. Genie Backup Manager Pro can be run from a custom xml script and be scheduled for unattended backups. Genie Backup Manager Pro has great online backup solutions using 128-bit encryption and SSL for security. Enhanced features allow easily viewing, managing, and deleting online backup storage. Added bandwidth throttling controls how much Internet bandwidth Genie Backup Manager Pro uses during uploads, etc. Improved connectivity enables auto resumes when a connection is lost but then returns. One very nice thing that Genie Backup Manager Pro includes is the ability to backup open files while they are being used. This is an area where other backup solutions often fail. Genie's ability to work from the Windows interface and still backup those files that are in use is critical to getting a useable backup. This avoids a crash that glitches some critical files, only to discover that those files couldn't be backed up because they were in use when the crash occurred. There are many "plug-ins" available on Genie's site to backup specific types of files like browser settings, AV quarantine and log files as well as game settings etc. The list can be viewed here: http://www.genie-soft.com/Scripting/ScriptSrch.aspx. The selection is extensive although not all inclusive. It is a "work in progress". Unavailable plug-ins can be requested. It seems the plug-ins are written by users that develop them and then choose to share with the community. One thing I noticed is that there weren't any plug-ins for the browser that I use (Firefox) and the AV I use (Outpost AV Pro). This seemed a little odd since these are fairly mainstream.

Genie-soft responded: 2003 server and 2008 server are only supported by the GBM server edition. Plugins for Firefox are at http://www.genie-soft.com/Scripting/Download.aspx?UserScriptID=143. Plugins for Outpost AV Pro can be requested and performed by the Genie-soft team.

Reviewer 3: It is hard to select a single feature as the best point of this software, but I think the best feature is that Genie Backup Manager Pro is a complete backup solution and truly a backup manager. Unlike most backup software designed for a single backup option, Genie Backup Manager Pro 8 handles numerous backup plans (called jobs) at the same time. Each of these "jobs" can be built, customized, and scheduled as the user desires. While it was impossible for me to test all the backup scenarios that are possible with the numerous options available for creating a backup job, I did test many of the backup scenarios that most users would desire and tested backups from single file or folder to an entire disaster recovery test simulating what would happen when one's HD dies and takes all data with it. As with any software, in order to have it do what is wanted one must learn how to use it. Genie Backup Manager Pro excels in this category with tutorials that not only tell how to perform the task, but also show how to do it with visual presentations using actual pages of the program. These tutorials are so complete that any novice that has never used backup software could easily perform a successful backup on their first attempt. I was impressed by the added explanations of key points where a user would decide upon an option which most novices would not understand its meaning, and thus would effect the usefulness their backup. An example of this was a simple explanation of restoring the Boot Manager files and when it should and should not be included in the restore. The backed-up data can be stored on numerous kinds of media including online storage for users that don't have any type of media storage. I used internal HDD, external HDD (via USB 2.0), CDR, CDRW, DVD-R, and DVDDL+R in my testing. Genie Backup Manager Pro is a Windows-based backup program and I was pleasantly surprised how it overcame the problems inherent to such programs. The speed was impressive. I backed up 49.4 GB to an external HD via a 2.0 USB connection with file compression and file verification in one hour 54 minutes. The impact to my system while this backup was in process was hardly noticeable; however I do have a high end dual processor with 4 GB RAM. Due to the speed of my system I was unable to determine the effect of Genie Backup Manager Pro's speed control. The speed control option (through a slider bar) determines the priorities of the backup job and thus diminishes the slow down effect on the PC; thus, users with less speedy systems will be able to control the slow down effect of the running backup while they are using the PC. Restores are equally as fast as I performed a disaster restore from the external USB HDD of the main partition of 25.6 GB in 25 minutes. Speedy backups are good only if the backups and restores of those backups are accurate. I tested many files types from simple .txt through .bmp (picture) and .avi (movie) and not once found that the restore file had become corrupted. I purposely included backups of corrupted files and discovered that Genie Backup Manager Pro skipped these files during the backup process. The incremental backup feature made sequential backups extremely quick so that I barely noticed them as they were occurring. This incremental backup allows the restore of a prior backup in case a problem is not detected before the next backup. One problem that appears with many backup programs deals with the security of Windows on an NTFS system. I have experienced this with other backup software in restoring a single file which was backed up to an external source. While the file restores, the users still can't access the file due to the lack of the private key needed to allow accessing the file. This is quite common in Word documents. Genie Backup Manager Pro overcomes this problem and any single file restored (even to a different folder on the HD) is accessible. This, along with Genie Backup Manager Pro's Rollback features, allows the user to have access to the various versions of the file as it is amended and backed up over time. My testing showed five versions of a Word document with each showing the changes I made between each backup with the ability to save any of the versions I desired. Disaster recovery was as simple and easy as it could be. Designed for a novice, the entire process can be performed without ever using the command prompt. Genie Backup Manager Pro will extract the files needed to make a bootable recovery CD or DVD. I made a DVD, but the size of the files will easily fit on a CD. In my test, my system has two internal HDDs with 3 partitions on each drive. I made incremental backups of the entire system on a weekly basis. I booted to the Recovery DVD which loaded the necessary files to run and open the Disaster Recovery module of Genie Backup Manager Pro. I restored the backup of the main boot partition (C:) of my main HDD to the first partition of my secondary drive. The restore was to simulate a restore onto a new HDD as in a situation where a previous HDD died. The entire boot to recovery DVD and restore took 30 minutes for the 25.6 GB and this was from a compressed backup. I changed the BIOS to boot from my secondary drive. The system booted like nothing had ever happened and all files and programs functioned as they should.

Reviewer 4: Genie Backup Manager has made it easy to get started. On the main opening screen, an invitation to tutorials will pop up, with a Tip of the Day as well. Choose Easy Mode, with two main selections: Create Backup or Restore, and a third: Run Backup option, if one or more backup jobs have already been created. I like the idea of having the Easy Mode as an excellent way to actually quickly and simply do a backup; however, "Easy" does not mean an inferior or incomplete backup, but rather all important and difficult-to-find files (favorites, the desktop, the Registry, "My Photos" folder, email, address book, etc.). Choose any folders to backup, using the familiar Explorer tree, and even backup "plugins." The Easy Mode allows a backup as complete as desired, and just as thorough as the "Normal Mode," without being overwhelmed by too many unfamiliar parts of the computer's structure or unusual vocabulary in the instructions.

In Normal Mode, all the main options of the program are available from the Main Screen, to include the module for Disaster Recovery.

Genie Backup Manager Pro

This is a function that is quite special to Genie Backup Manager. It requires two steps: create a bootable disk or CD, then to do the Disaster Backup itself. If the system crashes for one reason or another -- corrupted essential Windows files, a virus or malware attack, or inability to boot from your main drive - the computer can be started from there and restored to a functional state. Of course, to be able to do that Restore, one must have done the second step: a "Disaster Recovery" backup. Ideally, this would be done from a "clean" windows state, preferably from a new Windows installation. This would ensure that what was restored would be pristine and unsullied. Since this is not likely, the computer should be clean of viruses, spyware, and other malware before doing that Disaster Recovery Backup, It would also be advisable to have done a good "Registry Cleanup", perhaps with one of the Cleaners recommended by the Neat Net Tricks Software Panel, or another that is known to do a good job. I found that the backup took longer than I had expected, so I set it to run after I was finished for the day. Booting from the Bootable Disk / CD / DVD, you will start the computer in a Windows environment. I was surprised to find that there were many more tools available to me than a simple "now do a Disaster Recovery" Be advised, though, that this is not an imaging program, which makes a complete snapshot of the whole drive. It is a way of recovering essential system files, but data and programs are not part of this process. One neat function is the "Swift Restore". When selecting this option in creating a backup, a "Swift Restore.exe" file will be created along with the backup file itself. This is recommended when backing up to "Movable Media" such as DVD or a USB drive and allows data go to be restored on a computer that does not have Genie Backup Manager installed. I backed up the files to a USB drive, then moved that drive to a different computer. By specifying that I wanted to restore the files to an "Alternative Location", I was able to move all files to a new computer. I noticed that "My Network Places" is listed in the "My Folders" section of the Backup process. I can therefore go on to any of the shared folders on the network, select the files there, and then back them up to the USB drive connected to my own computer. I have thus been able to backup all that important work to a location separate from those computers, and onto a drive that is normally only turned on when there is backing up to do. By scheduling regular backups, I am now able to do something which is long overdue, all from the "comfort" of my own workplace, and without interfering with the people using those other computers. The support provided by Genie is excellent. I have sent several requests concerning different issues that have come up as I use the program, using the On-line Ticket system. The ticket system itself one of the easiest I have used. You do need to set up an account, but that is quickly done. Once logged in, all previous tickets are still there, including some I sent two years ago. I have always had very quick response to all my submissions -- often within a couple of hours, and always within 24 hours. Their answers were also very knowledgeable, and in a couple of instances helped me track down solutions that were not really issues with GBM itself.

Reviewer 5: When I last reviewed this program (v.6.0) over two years ago, I worried that I might sound as though I must work for Genie-Soft, the developer's of Genie Backup Manager, simply because this was about as perfect a program as I had ever used. As it turns out, I was wrong in that review. That version of Genie Backup Manager Pro could not have been even "about perfect" because this latest version (8.0) is even better than before! I have been using Genie Backup Manager for several years, and what small and almost inconsequential faults I have had with the previous version become corrected in each subsequent version as does and any "wish list" of improvements. This most recent version is no exception, and may have now finally taken this program to its ultimate level of development. There is still multi-drive spanning, a further improved and faster search feature for finding files, an even faster backup engine, differential backups, over 400 Free Plug-ins for backing up specific software programs, CRC Data Verification,, the ability to run backups while logged off, and highly intuitive Wizards to get started which include an easy and "Normal" layout so that even the raw beginner will find using this program simple to learn and use, but there are now a total 174 features (I actually counted!) that makes Genie Backup Manager Pro 8.0 (GBM) without peer and a backup solution for the novice as well as the expert.

CONFIRMATION

GBM is a very easy to use yet powerful program that can backup and restore files, documents, emails, settings, programs and more, to virtually any storage location, including hard discs, FTP locations, across networks, CD/DVD discs, floppies, zip drives, IDE/SCSI Tape devices removable media, internal or external drives (including RAID, NAS, SANs without the need to reconfigure) and memory sticks. It now includes storing backups online for a very nominal fee. Novice users will be able to create their first backup job in a matter of minutes, thanks to the aforementioned intuitive Wizard interface, while advanced users will appreciate advanced features such as Email notification, self-executable back-up sets, scripting, and 256-bit (128-bit in the Home version) AES encryption. Let's face it, making backups are never fun, but Genie Backup Manager makes it easy to get the whole process completed at the fastest possible speed with sensible default options for everything. Assigning a backup name isn't necessary and clicking "Next" is usually enough. Additionally, users who cannot afford to shut down their running applications during backup can also use the Open File Manager (OFM) that uses Window's own built-in Volume Shadow Copy to backup files that are in use (locked) by the system or other applications. Backups can be made on demand or scheduled and can be full, differential, or incremental, and compressed or encrypted or not. They can be further verified on completion if desired, which to me is a critical function to be certain that the backup was complete. Another excellent feature not often found in backup programs is the Catalogue module allowing backed up individual files to be opened and restored. GBM's features don't stop here. There is a feature called My Plugins that adds free features with one click ease directly from the Genie Backup Manager interface. These plugins enable users to backup different and/or additional software with preferences such as Firefox, WinAmp, and many more. The number of plugins is being continually expanded. Also, unlike almost any other backup program, GBM's backup jobs are compressed in standard ZIP format allowing any Wndows program to be read, examined, and/or restored by any Windows program on any computer whether or not there is a copy of the backup program installed. GBM offers the option of creating backups as executable files to restore any backup as easily as simply double clicking on the file. The newest feature, and the one which now makes Genie Backup Manager not only unique, but the ultimate all-in-one solution for all disaster recovery needs and solutions is the Windows Vista compatible disaster recovery feature guaranteeing that a Windows installation CD is not needed in the event of a disaster as the entire Windows operating system can be contained in a self-booting CD. In short, one no longer needs to reinstall Windows after a system crash but rather just restore an image of the Windows system taken before any crash! As this is, I think, the most important new feature, I spent considerable additional time testing this feature.

Genie Backup Manager

Burning a bootable disc takes about four minutes after which the disaster recovery backup is created which is in essence burning a copy of the entire operating system to removable media or a separate drive. In my tests, I used both a DVD-R as well as an external "My Book" hard drive. This required two discs , 72 minutes for the DVD burn, and 44 minutes for the external drive backup. While this was a bit slower than disc imaging software such as Acronis or the recently reviewed XX Clone, considering that this is a FREE feature unique to any other standard backup program, I think the little extra time can easily be forgiven. In order to test the recovery function, I used an old computer and purposely corrupted the Windows Registry-a sure-fire way to guarantee a non-bootable situation. I selected "Full Recovery" from the several options on the recovery CD and used the DVDs that I burned previously. The recovery process took approximately 40 minutes but on completion I was left with a Windows XP operating system in seemingly perfect condition. Very impressive and, quite frankly, better and easier results that I usually get with Acronis. I repeated this procedure twice, as well as one additional time using the "My Book" external drive and the results were the same in each test, very impressive. Now, while as superb a program as Genie Backup Manager is, no program is any better than its level of Help and Support but here GBM excels as well. While there is no telephone help, there is help ticket/email support, online forum, searchable knowledgebase,, FAQs, excellent demos, a downloadable PDF "User's Guide," Remote Assistance I using Windows XP, and instant chat using either MSN Messenger or ICQ. The demos provide some of the most extensive and excellent tutorials I have seen. Furthermore, unlike all too many programs being sold today, there is no time limit for support. My three test help tickets to support were answered as quickly as within 6 hours to as long as 24 hours-well in the parameters of what I would determine as excellent, and the support offered through the instant messaging was courteous, professional, and accurate in that it solved the posted problem the first time. Finally, there is a very liberal licensing policy which allows a purchaser to "use a reasonable number of copies of the registered version of the software"-something, again, almost unheard of today; and there is also a 21-day money- back guarantee if the purchaser is unhappy for any reason. While the trial version is only 15 days, I think this is suitable and adequate for a program such as this. All in all this is a rock-solid program and by far the best backup program on the market. It is no wonder that it has been selected by nearly every reviewer and major computer magazine as the gold standard for programs of this type. While $69.95 is higher than most standard backup programs ($49.95 for the Home version which will be adequate for the majority of users), when one considers that it replaces a disc imaging program it becomes a real bargain. This program has my full and unconditional support.

Genie-soft responded: It's a 30-day free trial, not 15 days.

Weak Points?

Reviewer 1:
I was upgrading from Genie Backup Manager Pro 6.0 which I uninstalled shortly before installation of version 8. The icons from version 6.0 still remained on the desktop after this process. At $69.95 for a single computer, this is a fairly expensive solution. As I mentioned above, they do make an exception for a laptop in addition to a desktop; however, I would be much more open to using it as my universal solution to backup if there was a "household license" available at a small premium above the single user price.

Genie-soft responded:
Users from other versions are entitled to upgrading discounts.

Reviewer 2:
No real weak points were discovered in my evaluation.

Reviewer 3:
The only weak point I saw with Genie Backup Manager Pro was in their marketing. I would never offer such a wonderful program in a scaled-down version. Genie Backup Manager Pro is offered with and without the Disaster Recovery feature. Without the Disaster Recovery feature, Genie Backup Manager Pro is a nice but limited backup manager. For a complete backup manager, the Disaster Recovery feature is a must. My advice to anyone deciding to buy this software, is to buy the complete version with Disaster Recovery.

Genie-soft responded:
The Disaster recovery feature is optional and is for free, if you download the version without disaster recovery, GBM can automatically download the component when you click the Disaster Recovery option while working on GBM or backing up. So actually the version without Disaster Recovery is fully compatible with Disaster Recovery. People with limited bandwidth and space would prefer to download a lighter weighted program.

Reviewer 4:
I know that the vast majority of people using PCs are locked in, one way or another, to the Windows applications that install themselves along with the Operating System. In particular, Outlook, Outlook Express, the Address book the "Favorites" in Internet explorer, Windows Media Player and so on. The My Profile module of the Backup process assumes that I use all those programs. I guess that most of the time, this is correct. I avoid them all, and use a different email client, a different Personal Information Manager and contact list, and a different default browser. I would really like the ability in Genie Backup Manager to change those defaults to the programs that I do use. As it is now, I simply skip that section, for it is no particular use to me.

Genie-soft responded:
You can use My Plugins and download plugins needed for your programs and favorites.

Reviewer 5:
As far as this reviewer is concerned there really are no serious weaknesses or flaws in this program. My only criticisms are more in the way of possible improvements than any flaws: When a new backup of the My Documents folder is made using the wizard and then additional folders are backed up, the My Document folder from the first step becomes unchecked. As it turns out, Genie seems to "remember" that it was checked initially and does do the back up as indicated, but it can be a bit confusing and/or cause some anxiety. One other suggestion, and admittedly of use to only a very few users: One can now alternate between full and incremental backups within the same backup job using the scheduler, you but cannot instruct Genie to backup to alternate locations for increased security; instead, a separate backup job must be created for each location. Finally, I would encourage Genie Soft to include a stated turnaround time for email support requests. Based on my experiences, the turnaround time was excellent so I see no reason not to advertise this (and besides, it eases a customer's mind knowing when a reply may be expected).

Other Comments?

Reviewer 1:
Shortly after installation, a window popped up offering a free trial account to backup data online.

Reviewer 2: I found Genie Backup Manager Pro to be a very versatile backup solution. It is very configurable, capable of being automated and easy to use. I did not venture into the "scripting" area as that is a bit over my head but for someone familiar with programming it could be just the ticket for a custom solution. I did both a mirror of the entire drive to a spare 120 Gb USB external drive and then setup a separate folder and did a custom file selection of certain files and folders on my drive. The mirror of my 76 GB main drive took about 2.5 hours. Subsequent incremental backups via the Genie Agent took only a little over an hour since it was only backing up the changed files. I've set the incremental data file backup to run automatically at 2:00 AM when I'm not likely to be using the computer.

Reviewer 3: None.

Reviewer 4: When disaster recovery and the option of backing up files to an off-line site, along with the more "traditional" options of storing extra copies of critical data to local media (DVD's, USB drives, etc.), GBM is really a complete backup package. This one is one of the best I have used, both in the product itself and in the support I received to all my requests.

Reviewer 5: As I have written before, I am constantly amazed at the number of computer users who do not backup their computers at all, let alone have a plan for doing so. Now, while this may not be a crisis on a worldwide scale, it could very well be an individual crisis. Sooner or later, a hard drive will crash.. And if you have not yet purchased a software program to perform these backups then you can do no better than Genie Backup Manager Professional 8.0. Is it expensive? The professional version lists at $70.00 so yes, it is a bit more expensive than a lot of software (there is a "Home" version available at about half that price); however, if after your hard drive crashed and you lost everything on your computer-remember this is your files, pictures, music files, personal papers, financial records, emails, and on and on-someone were to come to you and say that for $70.00 they would bring everything back to the way it was before your computer "died," I bet you would jump at the offer! And now that you can even restore your operating system in the event of corruption or a serious crash, you should not only jump but jump higher at the chance. Genie Soft, the developers of Genie Backup Manager have been around now for nearly 10 years and have committed themselves to providing the best product possible to their customers. In fact, it is the only software company I have yet seen that actually has a "Mission Statement" the goals of which, in part, read: Furnishing the most user-friendly solutions for the most delicate problems; Catering for what our customers WANT and NEED; Outstanding technical support that not only solves problems and addresses concerns, but also builds a relationship with our customer towards transforming their feedback into actual service and product improvement. Rarely do I give a recommendation without any reservations but in the case of Genie Backup Manager Professional 8.0 I can do so without hesitation. This is a superb program from an outstanding company, and one which I have used for a number of years and will continue to use and recommend.

Will you continue to use it?

Reviewer 1:
Yes.

Reviewer 2:
Yes, this one worked very well for me. It is running in the system tray right now.

Reviewer 3:
Yes, I have uninstalled my current backup software programs and Genie Backup Manager Pro 8.0 now serves as my only backup software.

Reviewer 4:
Yes, I will. Although I already have a backup plan set up and functional, Genie Backup Manager is easy to use, and will complement my current strategy very well indeed. In particular, I will use it to schedule backups of the users on the home network, as well as adding the 'Swift Restore" function to some of the other backups I do.

Reviewer 5:
Absolutely! I have been looking for a replacement to Acronis True Image and now with the disaster recovery feature in Genie Backup Manager Pro 8.0, I have found it!
